You should consider negotiating when possible. You may be surprised about possible negotiable items.

  • Price (this is the obvious one, but you may not have considered the others)
  • Closing costs
  • Financing
  • Occupancy (when can you get the key and move in?)
  • Painting (interior and exterior)
  • Repairs
  • Yard and landscaping
  • Furniture
  • Prepaid taxes and insurance
In any negotiation there is give and take. Your REALTOR will assist you and the seller to reach the best terms for everyone.

A professional inspection report will give you some points for negotiation on repair items. Allow between ten to fifteen days to receive the report and five days to review it.

You should include a closing date as part of your offer. This will enable both parties to plan better.
